Garbage Collection
The Town has contracted with vendor Suburban Disposal to handle Island-wide collection of household garbage, bulk trash and yard debris. Recyclable items are collected by Charleston County Recycling Department. Recycling Collection Schedule Conducted every other Wednesday Island-wide ********** Suburban Disposal Garbage Collection Schedule Household Garbage: Tuesdays & Fridays Yard Debris & Bulk Trash: Wednesdays Important Notes: Trash & yard debris are only collected from residences, not vacant lots. Trash should be placed curbside in roll out carts by 7:00AM on collection and rolled back from curb by 7:00PM that same day. Yard Debris Notes: Yard debris will not be collected from vacant lots OR from residences where lawn contractors have done lawn maintenance. Suburban Disposal attempts to collect some or all yard debris from every residence island-wide every week. Depending upon the volume of yard debris, Suburban Disposal may collect some of your yard debris and return that day or the next yard debris collection day to collect the remainder. This policy ensures all residents have an opportunity to get some yard debris collected before trucks fill up.
