(Click Here for Meeting Notice) Click Here - Proposed ordinance amendment for public hearing ********************************* Community Commercial Overlay District News/Update: On September 14, 2011 the Planning Commission recommended approval to Town Council of an ordinance to establish an Overlay District in the Community Commercial area (Proposed Draft Ordinance). Update (as of December 13, 2011): Council approved Second Reading of Ordinance 2011-06, which would amend various portions of Section 21, Zoning, and establish Community Commercial Overly Districts (CCOD#1 and CCOD#2). *****************************
The Planning Commission is comprised of seven (7) Sullivan's Island residents, appointed by Council, on a two-year, rotating basis. This advisory committee to Council reviews zoning related ordinances, subdivision and re-zoning requests, holds public hearings, engages in long-range Town planning and other requirements as outlined by the State of South Carolina Legislature and delegated by Town Council. 2010 MINUTES Click on date below to access available minutes (pdf) ************************** MINUTES ARCHIVE (Click Here) *********** ************ *********** PLANNING COMMISSION NEWS Town of Sullivan's Island Comprehensive Plan A Town Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for identifying and assessing current Town assets and future needs, and an opportunity for long-range planning. The Comprehensive Plan is a tool for elected officials as they establish policies and budgets, and for Staff as it executes those policies. Current Comprehensive Plan Status: The Planning Commission finalized its review of the Town's Comprehensive Plan, initiated in January 2008. On December 10, 2009 the Planning Commission passed a resolution to send to Town Council a draft version of the Plan with a recommendation for Council to approve it. Council held a public hearing to gather feedback on the Plan and, after review, approved the final Plan by ordinance in 2009. ********************* Information on 1998 and 2008 Comprehensive Plan
