The Sullivan’s Island Police Department is comprised of the Chief of Police, six full-time patrol officers and one police detective, with over ninety years of experience combined. It also employs one full time animal control officer and one reserve officer, all of which serve the island’s population of approximately 2000 year-round residents.  | Equipment  | Five four-wheel drive vehicles |  | Four patrol vehicles |  | One all terrain vehicle (ATV) |  | One police bicycle | | Due to the beauty and tranquility of the beaches, the island is visited by many vacationers as well as local beach goers. Leading the Town's police force for over 22 years, Chief Howard helped develop the policies and procedures that have shaped the Town's Sullivan's Island Police Department into the outstanding department it is today.
